Case Study Overview
The Port of Dover is the premier trade and travel gateway to Europe, accounting for 33% of the UK’s trade in goods with the EU. Ensuring the continuity of operations is critical to the Port.
Red7Marine carried out breasting dolphin repairs at ED6 Pier C, whilst ensuring operability of the port.
At a glance
- Location: Port of Dover, Eastern Docks, Pier C
- Plant used: 250t Haven Seariser 4
- What we did: Red7Marine carried out repairs to 3nr. Dolphin
fender panels in the Port of Dover.
The Challenge
The project involved the following:
- Removal of 3nr (of 6nr total in-situ) fender panels from the breasting dolphin.
- Carrying out repairs to fender panels.
- Reinstatement of 3nr (of 6nr total in-situ) fender panels from the breasting dolphin.

The Solution
Red7Marine’s used one of its 250t Haven Seariser jack-up barges bringing advantages by providing a maneuverable yet solid working platform for the removal and repair of the fenders.
We facilitated the project from one project move which minimised effects on port operations. We were also close enough to the quay to access the jack-up via a gangway providing safe access and negating the need for boat access.
The project was successfully completed in a matter of weeks.
