Case Study Overview
Earlier this year Red7Marine completed piling operations for Warbreck Civil Engineering Ltd on behalf of Merseytravel for the Woodside Ferry Terminal upgrades.
The development is a part of a larger project between the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Wirral Council, to turn the area into a vibrant and unique waterfront
destination.
Red7Marine, using its 400t Haven SeaSeven jack-up barge and bespoke temporary works (designed in-house), installed 2no. ØD 2100mm monopiles as part of critical foundation works for new terminal infrastructure for the development.

The Solution
The piles were installed using a Delmag RH34 Drilling Rig supplied by ABI Equipment Limited. The process involved rock socketing with ØD 2500mm temporary conductor casings, each 21m long, installed via a crane and vibro hammer. These casings provided essential support and accuracy for drilling ØD 2340mm sockets into the sandstone riverbed.
With the sockets complete, the ØD 2100mm piles were pitched and grouted.
Although Red7Marine’s scope of works was completed earlier this year, construction of the new terminal is progressing well and is on track for completion this summer, ahead of the arrival of the new £26M Mersey Ferry in 2026.
