On Wednesday 14th January Red7Marine marked an important milestone with a special visit to its Head Office from Izzy Skelly, a representative of Children with Cancer UK, as we proudly presented a £10,000 donation in recognition of a significant health and safety achievement within our business.

Launched last year, Red7Marine introduced a company-wide charity initiative designed to reinforce the importance of a strong health and safety culture. Linked to the achievement of Lost Time Incident (LTI)-free milestones, the scheme sees a donation made to a charity selected by Red7Marine for every milestone reached, based on the number of days worked since the last LTI.
Red7Marine selected Children with Cancer UK as the first charity to receive its donation.
The £10,000 donated by Red7Marine could be used to pay for the kit and chemicals needed to extract DNA from 4,000 patients’ blood and tissue samples. Helping professionals to understand the genetic makeup of patients’ caners to develop new personalised medicines.
This could also be put towards buying over 266 litres of T-cell nutrients, essential for growing a type of immune cell in a laboratory to allow researchers to develop CAR T-cell immunotherapies for the targeted treatment of children’s cancers.
Izzy Skelly, Community Fundraising Representative at Children with Cancer UK comments: “It has been such an honour to be supported by Red7Marine on such an innovative and interesting fundraising initiative. Their incredible efforts in hitting their 250-day milestone will help us to get closer to our vision where every child and young person survives cancer. Thank you to the whole team for their contribution, and for being a part of the change that we need.
