R7M were approached to supply a range of services to enable to the construction of the airports new east apron allowing it to accommodate additional aircraft. These included floating plant, specialist lifts and skilled, experienced supervision and labour. R7M had a strong presence in both personnel and plant during all of the foundation works.

The Solution
This project encompassed the hire of various items from R7M’s extensive marine fleet from a range of small modular floats to a selection of large flat top barge and even custom fabrication of a catamaran lifting frame specifically designed to fit between narrow channels of the already installed piles to install concrete support beams.
R7M’s labour, supervisors and plant were critical in the installation of the aprons foundations. Through careful marine planning and initiative solutions the operations were able to keep to schedule. In addition to the catamaran solution the project also required the use of a number of R7M’s flat top barges to support drilling operations and a further red pontoon system with pedestal mounted 80tonne m knuckle boom crane to placement of the concrete slabs. R7M also supplied various smaller items of marine plant, skilled operatives and diving services in various roles to allow for an efficient construction of the new apron.
All operations occurred next to a live airport and therefore specialist lifting solutions were planned and performed by R7M accommodating for the locations restrictions.
