A typical day as a
Red7Marine Graduate
As a graduate you will be involved from early designs and construction plans to seeing what you’re working on being fabricated in our own workshop and installed on site.
Because we want all our graduates to get a fully rounded introduction, you’ll get stuck into everything – designing and drawing, stability calculations, planning safe construction methods, supporting live projects, even spending time on site during commissioning and handover.
At Red7Marine, no two days are ever the same as you help to turn client ideas into real-world marine infrastructure.
From multimillion-pound marine civils contracts to complex nearshore operations, you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and exciting projects in the industry.
And with exposure to every aspect of what we do – from logistics and engineering to operations and fabrication – your role here will be more than a job. It’ll be a career with purpose.
Who are we
looking for?
We’re looking for individuals who are studying towards or have recently completed a Civil Engineering degree, ideally on track for a 2:1 or above.
You should be IT proficient, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Autodesk, and structural design software.
At Red7Marine, you’re not just part of a workforce – you’re part of a team that believes in each other, and believes in building something bigger together.
While beneficial, previous site or surveying experience is not essential, though importantly we do look for individuals with a genuine interest in marine engineering.
As well as the confidence and flexibility to take on new challenges and build strong relationships.
Frequently Asked Questions
We accept applications all year round but encourage graduates to apply in the first half of their final academic year to avoid disappointment.
To apply, candidates should submit their CV and a cover letter to: recruitment@r7m.co.uk.
Cover letters should evidence time taken to research the business, a genuine interest in the opportunity, and an alignment with the specifications of the role.
Once we’ve assessed all the applications, selected candidates will be invited to a short telephone interview to give us an opportunity to get to know each other better.
For those we feel are best suited to our organisation, the next step will be a face-to-face interview, which will typically be an hour in length.
We will contact you within two weeks to discuss the outcome of this interview, and to determine start dates with successful candidates.
We’re looking for enthusiasm, a genuine interest in marine construction, and a willingness to learn. Show us your relevant experience, projects, or studies, and tell us why you want to join Red7Marine.
Our head office is in Ipswich, Suffolk, but our projects take us across the British Isles. Recent projects have been delivered in Scotland, Somerset, London, East Anglia, Ireland, and Germany.
Placements may include both office-based and site-based rotations, depending on projects and your interests.
Start dates are flexible and can be aligned with your academic calendar.
Our Graduate Career Programme provides a structured career path for your first year at Red7Marine. You will be assigned a manager mentor responsible for supporting you through this period and we offer a fully accredited ICE Training Scheme for our engineers as you start your journey towards professional chartership.
In addition, we provide a wide range of tailored technical and practical training to help you build the skills needed to safely and successfully deliver projects on site.
For ambitious individuals who prove themselves to us over their first couple of years, we offer an accelerated leadership development programme to prepare you for management or leadership roles within the business.
While many of our engineers follow the ICE route, we also actively support professional development through a variety of other accreditation bodies, including IMechE, IMarEST and others, depending on your discipline and career aspirations.
