Our 1,000t Haven SeaChallenger jack-up barge has recently been supporting HERBOSCH-KIERE Marine Contractors Ltd for operations to dismantle the Royal Sovereign Lighthouse.

Royal Sovereign lighthouse is a decommissioned lighthouse marking the Royal Sovereign shoal, a sandbank 11 km offshore from Eastbourne. Originally, the platform was manned by three full-time keepers who lived in accommodation below the platform.

In June 2019, Trinity House announced that the lighthouse would be decommissioned because of the platform’s deteriorating structural condition, it was taken out of permanent service in March 2022.

HERBOSCH-KIERE will be working on the project over the next two years alongside Trinity House with the SeaChallenger being used as a working platform.
