The Challenge
Borehole data along with earlier surveys were required for pre-construction site investigation to inform final design planning and methodology for the export cable and its installation at Sofia Offshore Wind Farm.
The Solution
Red7Marine’s Haven Seariser 2 was positioned on-site in Redcar to complete the first borehole. The versatile jack-up barge has four legs that were lowered to the seabed using detailed stability calculations carried out by Red7Marine’s in-house engineering team. By lowering the legs, the barge is able to lift up above the water creating a steady platform for each borehole to be safely carried out. The barge was then towed between borehole sites by a towing vessel to complete the site investigation.
