Case Study Overview

In order to accommodate a new luxury apartment block in Brighton, part of the marina needed to reclaimed using a cofferdam. This would enable the water to be kept out and foundations to be built for the stunning seafront properties.

The Challenge

The client at Brighton Marina needed to install a sheet pile twin wall cofferdam to close off a section of the marina to enable construction of foundations for a large apartment block.

The Solution

Red7Marine provided stability calculations for the Haven Seariser 2, a 250t jack up barge, to accommodate a 120t crawler crane and the connection of piling gates to the jack up barge, enabling the installation of the sheet piling and tie rod system.

Early involvement with the client’s project team meant that Red7Marine was able to provide leg penetration and stability information in order to deliver the piling element of the project.

Partnering approach

The barge used for the Brighton Marina project has been in continual operation on a number of projects for the same client for the last four years. In fact the layout of the barge was developed in accordance to the clients needs.
