Red7Marine’s Haven Seaseven and Haven Seariser 4 jack-up barges are currently supporting the construction of a new €250m bridge over the Kiel Canal in Rendsburg.
The new bridge being constructed by Implenia will replace the existing A7 Autobahn bridge and will allow the continuity of traffic flow from the border of Austria in the south to the border with Denmark in the north. The existing bridge has suffered multiple lane closures and restrictions on the passage of heavy vehicles due to its concrete structure reaching an end-of-life stage.
Our Haven Seariser 4 is equipped with a 250t crane on deck with a luffing jib to assist the project in all required lift activities, most notably the +30m reinforcement cage and the permanent casing. Careful planning and engineering expertise during the tender stage were vital to push the barge’s capacity to its limits, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
The Haven Seaseven is undertaking the main piling activities for the project.
Prior to the barges arriving on site, Red7Marine, working with its Specialist Partners at MintMech Specialist Engineers designed and fabricated temporary works including a bull rail and removable cantilever platform. This temporary working area allows a 100t crane with a 30t casing oscillator attachment to cantilever off the side of the barge and execute the drilling and installation of the piling work. The platform was fabricated using R7M’s in-house team and with assistance from Delphini.
The barges will continue work on-site until Autumn this year.
It is great to be working alongside our client Implenia on this exciting infrastructure project.
